My Journey
Born and raised in Xinjiang, China, I started my journey in the US in 2014. Initially interested in comparative literature, I redirected my pursuits towards programming. With degrees in Informatics (Master's with a focus on Human-Computer Interaction) and Applied Data Sciences (Bachelor's) from Penn State University, I transitioned into the tech industry.
Life at Visa
I've been with Visa Inc. in Austin, Texas since February 2022, where I've spent nearly 4 years as a Design Engineer. My main focus has been building and maintaining design systems that bridge the gap between design and engineering.
One of my proudest achievements is building the Flutter design system library. This comprehensive component library now serves thousands of users across many projects within Visa. Working on design systems has taught me the importance of scalability, documentation, and developer experience.
Austin has been an incredible place to grow both professionally and personally. The city's vibrant tech scene, combined with Visa's innovative culture, has provided endless opportunities for learning and collaboration. I'm grateful to work alongside talented engineers and designers who push me to become better every day.
Other Projects & Passions
Game Development
I'm currently part of a game studio working on an auto chess game. This project combines strategic gameplay with competitive elements. We're planning to launch on Steam in the first half of 2026.
PsySpace
As Co-founder and Front-end Lead at PsySpace, I led the development of a mental health support platform. This was the beginning of my Flutter journey. The experience taught me the importance of empathetic design and building technology that truly helps people.
Academic Research
During my time at Penn State, I worked under my academic mentor Benjamin V. Hanrahan in the User Agency Lab. I co-authored a paper for CSCW 2020, contributing to research in Human-Computer Interaction. Although the lab has since disbanded, this academic foundation continues to influence how I approach user experience and interface design.
Table Tennis
I'm a competitive table tennis player, and the sport has taught me valuable lessons about focus, strategy, and continuous improvement that I apply to my work in technology every day.
Beyond Tech
When I'm not coding, you can find me experimenting with cocktail recipes, cooking dishes from around the world, or exploring Austin's food scene. I believe that creativity in the kitchen and creativity in code come from the same place: a desire to craft experiences that bring joy to others.
